What makes a good Shopify product title
A good product title says what the item is in the first few words. Google Merchant Center allows 150 characters in a Shopping title, but it says users usually notice only the first 70 or fewer and tells you to put the most important details first. It also rules out capital letters for emphasis and promotional text such as prices or shipping. Cut down to "Women's Floral V-Neck Boho Maxi Dress" (37 characters), the dress title says what the product is and keeps the details people filter by, while fabric and sizing move to the description.
Timing decides the tool. Import-time tools keep bad titles out of your store but do nothing for products already live, while catalog tools fix what you have. The SEO page title is a separate Shopify field, capped at 70 characters, and Shopify suggests 60 or fewer so search results don't cut it short. Whatever writes your titles, check a batch for dropped sizes, pack counts or compatibility notes before it goes live. And if only the formatting is wrong (all caps, "FREE SHIPPING", SKU codes), you may not need AI: TitleSweep ($4.99 a month) strips that kind of supplier junk and switches titles to Title Case or sentence case, though it only launched in July 2026 and has no reviews yet.
How we picked
We searched the Shopify App Store for "ai product title", "product title optimizer", "title generator" and "bulk title", kept the apps that write or rewrite titles with AI and favored those with a review history. We also looked at import apps with an AI title rewrite built in, which is where DSers and ProductUpload.ai come from. Shopify Magic only comes up in the Sidekick entry, because it doesn't write titles, and we left out Avada AI Product Description because its documentation covers descriptions and meta descriptions but not product titles. We did not install every app on this list; facts about the others come from their App Store listings, help centers and pricing pages. Prices, ratings and review counts were checked on the Shopify App Store and vendor sites in September 2026.

For titles, that means long, keyword-stuffed supplier titles become clear product names, in your store's language even when the supplier wrote in another one (100+ languages). It was called Norlif AI Product Enhancer until September 2026.
The new title can also go into the SEO page title at no extra credit. You filter by collection or vendor, add style instructions such as "brand first", review the results and revert any run in one click, and Auto mode handles products added later. Sidekick can create or edit products from your instructions. Ask for a shorter title with the product type first, and it fills in the field, marks it in purple and waits for your approval before anything changes. It is included with your Shopify plan, and its features and usage limits vary by plan.
The catch: Shopify's help docs don't say how many products one request can cover or how to undo a batch of changes, so try it on a few titles before you hand it a whole collection.

You can pick ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude models, and what the listing calls Pro features can read product images and search the web, which helps when the supplier title is most of what you have.
The catch: It is a monthly subscription, which suits a steady flow of imports. For a one-time title cleanup you pay for a month and have to remember to downgrade.

In the Import List you click the AI icon next to a product's title, choose AI Product Title Optimization, add your requirements (the default is "Keep short, eye catching") and pick one of six output languages. Each generation or regeneration uses one AI credit.
The catch: AI title optimization is included on Pro ($49.90 a month, 50 uses) and Enterprise (200 uses); on the free and $19.90 Advanced plans it is an add-on. DSers documents it only for products in the Import List, before they are pushed to your store, so titles already live in your store need another tool.

You set the title format by pasting two or three of your own titles as examples; the help center warns that a single example can make every product come out with the same title. Each field has its own Keep or Rewrite switch, and titles come out in the content language you set. The free plan covers 5 imports, and paid plans start at $9.99 a month for 100 product searches.
The catch: It works at import time. Re-importing a product that is already in your store updates it in place and can replace variants, pricing, SKUs and descriptions, so test one product before you point it at an existing catalog.

Meta titles and bulk generation start on Starter at $15 a month (2,500 credits, 8 blog posts), with Pro at $30 and Elite at $100. The free plan covers up to 120 descriptions added manually and one blog post.
The catch: Its listing text describes meta titles; product titles appear only in its feature tags, with no detail on how they are rewritten. Meta titles start on the paid Starter plan.

It costs nothing beyond a ChatGPT plan, and you control every word. The CSV rules are strict: an update file needs the URL handle and Title columns, SEO titles are capped at 70 characters, and a blank cell in a non-required column wipes that field.
The catch: Past a couple hundred products, the copying and checking becomes the job. Keep the original export as a backup and check that every handle still sits next to the right title.
