Syncee is a marketplace of suppliers, so the product data in your store is whatever each supplier uploaded. Syncee says so itself: the supplier provides the product data, Syncee doesn't write it. A catalog built from ten suppliers has ten styles of title, description and language.
The good news is that Syncee leaves your text alone after import. This page covers what arrives, what goes wrong with supplier-written data, which fields are safe to rewrite, and the one setting that can undo your work.
Will Syncee overwrite your edits?
Not by default. Syncee keeps cost, price, inventory and published status in sync and leaves title, description, tags and SEO fields alone. Only the import list's one-time Update can push them again.

What lands in Shopify
| Field | What arrives | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Product title | The supplier's product name | Rewrite to under 70 characters, in one style across suppliers |
| Description | The supplier's description, sometimes with links to the supplier's website | Remove supplier links, then intro, bullets and a spec table |
| Page title and meta description | Whatever the supplier filled in, copied to every store that imports the product | Write your own, unique to your store |
| Product category | Syncee maps its categories to your collections. Shopify's standard category isn't mentioned | Assign a category from Shopify's standard product taxonomy |
| Type, vendor, tags | From the supplier | Tidy if your collections or filters use them |
| Variant option names | The supplier's names, often in the supplier's language | Rename or translate them in Syncee before import |
What goes wrong with Syncee product data
Supplier links in descriptions
One merchant's review of the Syncee app found links to the supplier's website inside product descriptions. Syncee's reply was that suppliers provide the data. A link to your supplier is a link away from your checkout.
Mixed languages
Suppliers on Syncee write in their own languages, so variant names and descriptions can arrive in a language your store doesn't use. Syncee has a help article just for renaming and translating variant options.
SEO fields shared with other stores
Syncee imports the SEO title and SEO description along with the product. If the supplier filled them in, every store selling that product gets the same search listing.
No consistent style
One supplier writes "WOMEN'S RUNNING SHOE LIGHTWEIGHT", another writes a paragraph of marketing copy. Side by side in a collection, the store looks assembled rather than curated.
Will Syncee overwrite your edits?
Not by default. Syncee's help center lists the fields it doesn't update automatically, so you can change them in Shopify: title, description, product type, vendor, tags, SEO title and SEO description, compare-at price and barcode. What it does keep updating by default is cost, price, inventory and published status.
The exception is the one-time "Update" in the import list, which can push almost any field again, including title and description. If you rewrite products in Shopify, leave those fields unticked when you run it. Syncee also asks you not to change SKUs, option names or option values in Shopify, because it uses them to match variants.
How to fix a catalog of Syncee products
Fix variant option names in Syncee before import, using its bulk variant renaming. Everything else is safer to fix in Shopify, because Syncee doesn't update those fields afterwards. Syncee also added an AI product editor in September 2025 for titles, descriptions, meta fields and tags.
To see how big the job is, export your products and drop the file into the free title and meta description length checker. Duplicated meta descriptions are the giveaway for SEO fields copied from suppliers.
My app, Norlif AI Descriptions, Titles, rewrites titles, descriptions and meta descriptions across the whole catalog in one style, writes them in your store's language whatever language the supplier used, and assigns a Shopify category. It doesn't touch variant options or SKUs, so Syncee's matching keeps working. Auto mode writes titles, descriptions and categories for new imports as they arrive, and every run can be reverted in one click.

Frequently asked questions
Does Syncee overwrite product titles and descriptions?
Not by default. Syncee keeps cost, price, inventory and published status in sync, and lists title, description, type, vendor, tags and SEO fields as fields it doesn't update automatically. The import list's one-time Update can push them again if you select them.
Can I change variant names on Syncee products?
Rename them in Syncee before import. Syncee asks you not to change option names, option values or SKUs in Shopify, because it uses them to match variants.
Why are my Syncee products in different languages?
Because each supplier writes in its own language. Rewriting the title, description and meta description in your store's language fixes the product text. Variant names are renamed in Syncee.
Does Syncee set the Shopify product category?
Syncee's category mapping assigns your collections. Its help center doesn't mention Shopify's standard product category, which drives tax rules, Google Shopping and storefront filters, so check that field separately.
