CJdropshipping lists products in your Shopify store from its own catalog. Its guide for Shopify sellers says it sends the title, description, images, variants and pricing, and that you can edit the product further in Shopify if you need to.
You usually need to. CJ's product text is written once, by CJ or its suppliers, and every store that lists the product gets the same copy. Merchants also report descriptions with key details missing. This page covers what arrives, what is often missing, and how to fix a catalog of CJ products in one pass.
Will CJ overwrite your edits?
Probably not, but it is unconfirmed. CJ says you can edit listed products in Shopify, and nothing in its guides says it rewrites text later. Its product auto-sync isn't documented, so test one product before rewriting the whole catalog.

What goes wrong with CJdropshipping products
Key details missing
A jewelry seller on the Shopify Community described CJ descriptions with no metal, gemstone or measurements and about 100 items to fill in by hand. Low-rated reviews of the CJ app mention products without a size chart, material or care instructions.
Size charts that change
One low-rated review from August 2026 says CJ switches between sellers for the same product and each seller has a different size chart. A size chart pasted into the description goes stale when that happens.
The same text as every other store
Every store that lists a CJ product starts with the same title and description. A reply on the same Shopify Community thread made the point: many competing stores use exactly the same supplier text.
Will CJ overwrite your edits?
CJ's guides say you can edit a listed product further in Shopify, and nothing in them says CJ rewrites the title or description afterwards. Inventory sync is a separate setting you switch on.
There is also an "Auto-Sync (Order & Product Information)" setting, and CJ doesn't document which product fields it covers. Before you rewrite a whole catalog, edit one product's title and description in Shopify, wait a day, and check it is still yours.
How to fix a catalog of CJ products
Start with the facts, not the wording. Where CJ left out material, measurements or care, get them from the CJ product page or ask CJ, and add them to the product. No tool can write a correct spec table from data that isn't there, and an AI that fills the gaps with guesses is worse than a short description.
Then check the catalog. Export your products and drop the file into the free title and meta description length checker. It counts long titles, missing meta descriptions and meta descriptions that are the same on several products.

Frequently asked questions
Does CJdropshipping write SEO titles and meta descriptions?
CJ's Shopify guide lists the title, description, images, variants and pricing, not the page title or meta description. Without them, Shopify builds the search listing from the product title and the start of the description.
Can I edit CJ products after listing them?
Yes. CJ's own guide says you can edit a listed product further in Shopify. Check one product after a day before editing the whole catalog, because CJ doesn't document what its product auto-sync covers.
Why do all CJ stores look the same?
Because they start from the same catalog text. A rewritten title, description and meta description is the cheapest way to make your product pages different from every other store selling the item.
What if CJ gave no material or measurements?
Add them before rewriting. A good rewrite uses the facts it has and leaves out what it doesn't know, so missing facts stay missing until someone adds them.
